Abstract
This is an analytical study conducted for the World Bank, where all districts in 20 major states in India have been ranked based on their performance in 7 different indicators of reproductive and child health. The main objective of ranking the districts is to generate measures that will enable district level government functionaries to better identify the critical gaps in RCH measures at a micro level. Econometric modeling was used in order to measure the performance of the districts in terms of various RCH indicators after correcting for various household, individual and socio-economic characteristics using unit level data from RCHS round 2 data collected during the period 2002-04.
